com GENERAL DESCRIPTION Responsible work involving a variety of recreation activities at a community center or other recreation facility and adjacent grounds.
Assignments may require evening and weekend hours.
Works under general direction of Recreation Supervisor.
Essential Job Functions:
Plans, organizes and implements one or more recreational activities of a specialized nature.
Assists in carrying out special events and activities.
Helps coordinate recreation programs for youth, which may include day camps.
Oversees the use of all equipment and inventory items used in programs.
Maintains records of specialized classes, attendance records, collects and receipts money for recreation activities.
May be assigned the responsibility of the organization of teen programs and outings.
May be assigned the responsibility for the organization of leagues which would include scheduling, hiring of officials, registration, etc.
Assists in planning of special events.
Performs related work as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of the philosophy and objectives of public recreation.
Knowledge of the principles and practices used in organizing and directing play and recreation activities.
Knowledge of rules and regulations governing various competitive athletic games.
Ability to lead, plan and coordinate various recreational activities, and youth programs.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees and the general public.
Ability to lead subordinates and volunteers effectively.
Ability to work effectively with children and young adults.
Skill in a variety of recreational activities.
Ability to operate a PC in a networked environment.
Education and Experience High school graduation or an acceptable equivalency diploma.
Experience in organized and specialized varied recreational programs.
Licenses, Certifications or Registrations:
Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver's License.
Must possess and maintain CPR certification.
ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL SKILLS Acceptable eyesight (with or without correction).
Acceptable hearing (with or without correction).
Ability to communicate both orally and in writing.
Moderate (15 to 44 pounds) lifting and carrying.
Driving.
Walking, bending, kneeling, stooping.
Physical agility.
Ability to access, input and retrieve information from a network PC.
Ability to sit at a desk and view a display screen for extended periods of time.
